Ballerina wannabees in English

A sweet little toe-up sock to brighten up your day.

You need:
Yarn: Sockyarn, here shown in Drops Fabel, less then 1 skein ( 50 g).
Needles: 5 DPN 2,5 mm or just magic-loop them!
You also need a tapestryneedle and 4 buttons matching your yarn.

CO 16 sts using figure-8 cast on (or your fauvorite cast on for toe-up socks).
Row 1: Knit all sts, divide sts over 4 needles, place marker at beginning of row, row starting at the side of the sock.
Row 2: Now you start to increese. Knit 1 st, make one st, knit until 1 st remain on needle 2, make 1, knit 1. Repeat on needle 3 and 4. You now have 20 sts.
Row 3: Knit all sts.
Continue to increese in set way on every other row till you have 60 sts (15 sts/ needle).

Knit until the foot mesures 10 cm less then the whole lenth of your foot. (My foot is 23 cm long so i knit 13 cm. Make sure that you don't knit the foot too long, you want a tight fit.

On the next row: Knit 11 sts, cast off 4 sts, cast off the 4 first sts on needle 2 (this will be the new beggining of the row). Knit all sts until you'r at the gap, turn and purl all sts. (Now the sock is knitted back and forth.)
Now you start to decreese. On every right side row you start by knitting 2 tog and you end by knitting 2 tog. On every wrong side row you purl all sts.
When you have 7 sts on needle 1 ( 15 sts/needle 2 and 3) and 7 sts on needle 4 you start to decreese in the beginning and end of every row (the purl ones too). Continue to knit like this til you have 1 st on needle 1 and 4. Knit til the gap, knit 1, cast on 14 new sts (15 sts on needle 4), cast on 14 sts, knit 1 (15 sts on needle 1). Now you have 60 sts again and it's time to knit the heel.

The heel is knitted in the round on 4 needles. Knit 4 rows, then start to decreese as follows;
Needle 1: Knit all until 3 sts remains, knit 2tog, knit 1.
Needle 2: Knit 1, ssk, knit all.
Needle 3: As needle 1.
Needle 4: As needle 2
Knit 1 row. Continue to decreese on every other row until you have 8 sts/needle. Then dec on every row until you have 4 sts/needle, graft together using kitchener stitch.

Now it's time to pick up sts for the cuff. Start at the center back of the heel. Pick up 60 sts and place them on 4 needles. Knit 6 rows of twisted rib, ( Knit 1 tbl, Purl 1 tbl ). On next row; Knit 2, cast off 56, knit 2. You now have 4 sts at center back of the heel, continue to knit thees 4 sts in garterstitch (knit every row) for 10 rows, back and forth on 2 needles. Bind off and save a tail for sewing. Fold your little pease in the middle towards the inside of the cuff, this will make a loop for the ribbon to go throug, stitch it in place.

Now it's time to knit the ribbon that holds the sock in place. Co 4 sts, knit on 2 needles, knit on every row. Knit until the ribbon is long enugh to go throug the loop and cross at the front of the sock. The ribbon is sewn on with the buttons, this will make a fake buttoning. Sew on the ribbon on the cuff where the heel starts. (See pictures.) I knitted my ribbon 35 cm but it's important to try it on, remember that the ribbon will stretch.

Weave in all ends, make another one and block lightly. Then it's time to dance the night away!

Hope you have fun knitting theese little darlings, I'm sorry about my spelling but I'm simpley hopeless! :) If you have any questions please contact me here or on ravelry! Thanks!
